These designs were created in around 1 hour, prompted by a random design brief generator, and using a very condensed version of my design process (below). All of the final designs can be found as shots on my Dribbble profile.

Design a mobile in-flight WiFi experience

I decided to design for an existing airline, Virgin Atlantic, to utilise their brand colours and style.
After a 20-minute planning session I decided the key features I needed were;
– The ability to select different plans based on user needs
– The ability to keep track of how much data you are using
Designs were created in Sketch and I tried to stay around 1 hour from generating the brief to the finished design.
With 1 more hour I would: work on the purchasing process to ensure it was quick and easy to purchase a WiFi plan.
Design a build-your-own-burger app

I knew this would need to have all of the staples of an online food ordering app such as a menu, individual items that can be added to a basket, delivery options and payment processing.
I decided to make the ‘Burger Builder’ a stand-out feature on the menu page. The builder itself is simple and visual, with easy click-to-select/deselect functionality.
For added interaction and joy I would want to animate the cartoon burger in the bottom right corner to mimic the burger being built i.e. a slice of tomato would appear/disappear as the user clicks those options so the illustration becomes a ‘preview’ of the real burger.
With 1 more hour I would: work on interactions and animations as I believe this should be a joyful ordering experience.
Design a recipe website for bartenders with memory spans of seven seconds

After some initial research and ideation, I decided to design the tablet breakpoint of a responsive website as it is bigger than a phone but still portable enough to have behind a bar.
The most important things I considered were ease of searching/browsing recipes and the ability to return quickly to favourites. The search bar would offer dynamic suggestions in a list when typing.
I also thought it would be great for bars/bartenders to be able to create an account and add their own speciality drinks.
The recipes themselves use icons to show the equipment needed so it can be gathered quickly and the font is simple and spaced out for ease of reading.
With 1 more hour I would: Work on the UI of the card elements to be a little more sophisticated and explore creating bespoke icons so that they are more uniform.
